Dr Davina Carr
Southern FSU QI Facilitator

Davina commenced her role as Quality Improvement Facilitator (QIF) within the Southern FSU following the development of a strong interest in quality improvement, arising from her involvement in the Regional Opioid Collaborative QI project, related work at Carryduff Surgery, and the attainment of a Level 2 qualification in Quality Improvement.
She has a clear understanding of general practice as the foundation of the NHS and is committed, through her role, to enhancing patient care while improving the experience of GP practice teams. She believes, and has observed firsthand, that small, well-designed improvements within general practice systems can yield significant benefits for both patients and healthcare staff. For her, quality improvement is a key mechanism for empowering practice teams to deliver better care, develop more effective systems, improve health outcomes, and enhance working conditions and professional satisfaction.
She is currently working with practices and wider community teams across the Southern FSU on a range of QI initiatives, including triage systems, DNA rates in mental health practitioner appointments, prescribing at the private–NHS interface, optimisation of care for patients with multiple comorbidities, and infant feeding prescribing.
Alongside her role with the Southern FSU, she has a keen interest in medical education. She has roles in clinical skills teaching and simulation-based education, is the Year 4 GP Lead at Queen's University Belfast, and Academic Co-Lead for Year 4 students. She also works as a locum GP at Donard Family Practice in the beautiful County of Down.
